May
May is the month when we can really get into our gardens. Existing plants need to be fertilized. Flower and shrub beds need to be mulched. The lawn mower needs to be dug out of storage and the first mowing of the season begins. There are some flowers and vegetable plants that can be planted early in the month. Other things need to wait until later in the month. The full moon in May is generally when we have our last frost of the season. The full moon is May 6th this year. We can still get a frost after that date, so the old adage that tender annuals and vegetables should be planted around Memorial Day still can hold true.
New shipments of plants arrive each week, if not each day in our store. May is a month for planting all your plants. If you need help choosing the right perennials for your yard, the best vegetables, the plants for your window boxes, or anything related to gardening, we should be your first stop.
